| Creating a Realistic Grass Frame for your photos |
|
As for this tutorial we will be using ‘Grass' as our frame and Wedding as our theme, for sure flower suits our theme so make sure to have one ready. First, download our grass which I found on flickr, This was the best grass texture I found on internet considering it was a free to use under CC license. Then grab a nice wedding photo, I also found one on flickr which by chance fits the theme perfectly. Ok now let's start, open the wedding photo and crop if necessary. Put the grass texture over the photo and add a blank vector mask, as a result you won't see the photo but don't panic we can work without his presence.
[Ctrl click] the photo layer to have a marquee selection of the entire layer, and then select our grass texture mask and manually mask those inner grass edges.
Then invert the mask.
Then grab your marquee selection tool and create a square border around the photo, then invert the selection [Ctrl Shift I].
Then go to our grass texture mask and then do the same, manually mask those grass edges but this time we are masking the outside edges.
Create a new layer underneath them, and on that layer grab your marquee tool and add a new border around the grass texture. Fill it with any color you like (it doesn't matter anyway). And add a pattern overlay (I used a pattern which looks like a mosquito net). Also add some inner shadows on your wedding photo and drop shadows on our grass texture.
Now put some flowers for finishing touch, print it and you can use it as a wedding souvenir. (click the image for large preview) Comments

I can't seem to get this...It says:
[Ctrl click] the photo layer to have a marquee selection of the entire layer, and then select our grass texture mask and manually mask those inner grass edges. I got the selection but what does it mean by manually mask those inner grass edges? How do I do it? written by ms_wednesday , June 09, 2009
create a blank mask on the grass layer and using your airbrush tool manually mask them .. masking means hiding.
