After I decided not to post anything because of sluggish server struggling for almost 2 weeks I finally came back, and now I'm going to teach on how to convert a green landscape into a semi winter, we don't have winter season here so I don't really know how it looks like but I guess this is more like it so bring out some photos and we are going to transform those into winter landscape.

I use a photo I found on flickr under CC license by Other Neither.

First open up your photo, and then find those spots where you feel like putting some snow. Go to Select > Color range then select the color of your chosen spots.

Press ok then on the layer panel create a new layer [Ctrl Alt Shift N], rename it to snow and fill it with white or go to Filter > Sketch > Note paper, either way will do.

Then merge copy to the next highest depth [Ctrl Alt Shift E].

Then duplicate it [Ctrl J].

Then apply Gaussian blur about 6.5 pixel.

Change its blending mode to overlay, and you'll be having the soft focus effect.

Now we are going to fix the sky coz it turns out to be losing some blue channels, turn off everything except for the original photo.

Then go to Select > color Range > , and get those blue sky.

Then create a color balance adjustment, play around to get the right amount of blue for your sky, as for this tutorial I made a Shadow [0, 0, 56], mid tones [-42, -42, 100], Highlights [0, 0, 46] with Preserve luminosity checked.

Look at the result of the color adjustment.

Then on the upper most layer create a curve adjustment to correct the overall tones using those spots in the figure.
